The patent leather panels provide grip on the pole as the shiny patent leather will "stick" to the pole, these gaiters are also suitable for Aerial chains.

The boots lace up at the back with White laces and the back tongue is un-attached on one side, which gives room for adjusting and re-tightening as the leather softens.
